HORNET RULES

RACECEIVERS ARE MANDATORY
2011 RACE RULES


Beckley Motorsports Park 2011 U-Car Rules/Hornet
RaceCeiver Radios and Transponders are mandatory, no exceptions.
Equipment is available for sale or rental at the speedway.
1. Any 4 Cylinder -- 1980 thru 2006 -- 2 or 4 door sedan or coupe that meets the
following criteria
A. Manufactures Horsepower rating cannot exceed 150 HP
B. Manufactures Curb Weight-- Maximum-- 2800 lbs.--Minimum--2400 lbs.
C. Each participant must provide the following information for every car entry
1. Year, Make, Model and Engine configuration
2. Manufactures Horse power and Torque ratings
3 Manufactures Curb Weight
* these Car Specifications can be obtained on Web sites, magazines (Motor Trend) etc.
and you must bring a printed document to verify this information.
Example--- 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L 2 valve
140 HP --- 150 ft.lbs Torque
Curb Weight 2617 lbs
2. Maximum wheelbase of 105 inches. Minimum wheelbase 98 inches
3. Complete stock body, frame and suspension. No bracing anywhere except inside the
driversʼ compartment.
4. Steering and pedals must remain stock for that make and model.
5. All insulation under hood must be removed.
6. Stock carburetor/fuel injection system for that make and model. No turbo or
supercharged systems allowed.
7. ECM must be OEM with no modifications
8. Engines are limited to 4 cylinders ONLY!. Maximum 2.2 L
9. Front wheel drive only.
10. Battery must remain under the hood.
11. Stock unaltered rear end for that make and model
12. Stock wheels only -- All tires must be 60 series or above DOT tires, all 4 tires must
be the same. Use of oversized lug nuts is recommended
13. Unaltered stock struts and shocks only.
14. Added weight(s) must be securely fastened
15. 4 or 6 point roll cage. Minimum 1.50 OD x .095 steel tubing -- Must be attached to
(4) or (6) -- by 2 -- steel plates welded to frame rails. ( ** see below )
16. Drivers door must be reinforced with 3 door bars. (1.50 OD x .095 ••• steel tubing)
17. Only remove enough metal from doors and interior structure to insert roll bars.
18. No sharp or jagged edges.
19. All exterior glass (tail lights, head lights, side mirrors, door glass, side windows, rear
windows etc.) must be removed.
20. Gas Tanks: If stock gas tank is ahead of the rear axle it may remain in place. If stock
gas tank is behind rear axle – it must be replaced with a fuel cell or boat tank. (Max 8
gallon cell) Fuel cell or boat tank must be covered with 20 gauge sheet metal and may
have hinges on top for accessibility. Secured with 4 straps, and located as far forward
and centered between frame rails as possible in the trunk.
21. Two hood pins in the front part of the hood and rear trunk lid.
22. Doors must be welded or bolted shut.
23. Air bags must be disconnected.
24. Approved helmets and racing seat belts, aluminum racing seat and full fireproof race
suits are mandatory.
25. Gloves are optional
26. Window nets on driversʼ side are mandatory.
27. All cars must have a fully charged and operational fire extinguisher within reach of
the driver. Must be securely mounted to floorboard of vehicle.
28. Car numbers must be at least 24” tall on doors and roof and must be legible for
scoring tower.
29. No duplicate numbers. Register car number with the speedway office. If duplicated a
letter may be added to the end of the number.
30. Minimum Weight 2500 lbs. after every race---* Please note that the race director
reserves the right to modify this rule.
Modifications Allowed:
1. Removal of air conditioner condenser and A/C pump
2. Removal of inertia switch. (Fuel shut off – Ford)
3. Removal of rear seat. (Must cover rear firewall with aluminum or steel)
4. Electric cooling fan may be wired to run constantly.
5. Removal of car radios and speakers allowed.
Items that will be Inspected:
1. Stock Wheels
2. Stock Suspension in stock position
3. 4 wheel working stock brakes
4. Stock Steering column.
5. Hood and trunk lids must have hinges or 4 hood points.
6. Stock Transmission
7. Fuel additives or altering of fuel is NOT allowed. Track fuel or pump gas permitted
ONLY.
8. No lock differential.
9. Aluminum Racing type seat ONLY. Racing safety BELTS
10. No removing of sheet metal such as hoods, trunks, doors or interior sheet metal.
11. Fire extinguisher and all safety equipment will be checked.
** Several companies now offer roll cage kits for U/Car applications -- Google search U/
Car roll cage -- tubing can be either HREW or DOM as long as it meets minimum
requirement -- 1.50 OD x .095 wall thickness
